RC Toulon - Le Pilou-Pilou
Ah !
AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH !
J'ai dit NOTRE TERRIBLE CRI DE GUERRE !
AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH !
Parce que TOULON
ROUGE !
Parce que TOULON
NOIR !
Parce que TOULON
ROUGE ET NOIR !
J'ai pu rencontré Cédric - le maître du Pilou-Pilou - (voir en bas de la page pour ce qui concerne l'élève anglais) :
Every rugby fan in France knows about the home game “war-cry” of RC Toulon, which can be likened to the haka of the All Blacks, except that the pilou-pilou is performed by the crowd – so when you go to the Stade Mayol to watch star players like Sir Jonny Wilkinson, Matt Giteau, Bakkies Botha and Frederic Michalak it helps to know the words ! So here they are (with an attempted translation for those of us not born in Provence):
Who descend from the mountains to the sea
Pilou-Pilou
With our hairy women breast feeding our children in the shade of the great white coconut trees (not really sure about my translation here - can't imagine them shouting this at Harlequins !!)
Pilou-Pilou
We the fierce warriors utter our fierce war-cry
AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH !
I said our fierce war-cry
AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH !Because TOULON
Red
Because Toulon
Black
Because Toulon Red and Black
I was lucky to be introduced to Cédric, who leads the Pilou-Pilou for RC Toulon's games - we tried out the English version as follows !!!
