A short stage under a grey sky, with a difficult climb up to La Turbie.
A magnificent "peloton" of 24 cyclists assembled in Tourrette-Levens at 9.30 am. The Mairie had kindly laid on drinks and bites, and the Mayor Dr Alain Frère sent us on our way with a rousing speech and a wave of the flag. The first part of the ride was all downhill, but the climb to La Turbie through Laghet is a difficult one for tired legs.
Tourrette Levens Mayor Dr Frère and the Peloton |
We re-grouped in La Turbie for a coffee before making the final drop down to Monaco, where after a slight delay we were guided down to the port by a police motorcycle escort !! The reception was at the Brasserie de Monaco where in the company of over 50 friends, we held a short ceremony to mark the end of the tour, and to present the cheques to the 2 beneficiary foundations. M.Lubert on behalf of FPA2 accepted the cheque of € 6,500. The cheque for the Foundation ARC amounted to €12,350. We then enjoyed some drinks and lunch.
We will publish shortly some more photos of this final day.
