3. Toulon - Velaux

Wednesday 29 May 2013

107 km

Elevation gain 1,414m

Riding Time 4h 39 min

Average Speed 22.9 km/h

Today's stage took me past a number of famous spots - the Paul Ricard racing circuit at Castellet, the Garlaban, the St Victoire mountain and the Roquefavour aquaduct. Accompanied by Patrick and Guy, another strong headwind kept our speed down, but at least we stayed dry :-)

Staying this evening with Marc and Fred. Marc proudly showed me the offshore speedboat Pancho Vila (currently in drydock), while Fred proved that cycling is popular in Velaux too:

Today's star though was Gérard, who realized that I had forgotten my laptop charger in Toulon and drove up to Bouc Bel Air to give it to me - mille mercis Gérard - grâce à toi je vais pouvoir continuer à alimenter le blog .....

  1. The speedboat looks like the one of James Bond against Dr No, where Ursula and here transparent swimming suit have triggered the fantasms of teenagers in the 70's...
Mark! Where is your swimming suit?!

    1. You mean the film from 1960 ?
In the water, if you stick a Lotus badge on it you could pretend that it is the amphibious car that Roger Moore drove!
